Amazon to hunt order to dam Microsoft from engaged on DoD’s JEDI contract

(Reuters) – Inc (AMZN.O) will ask a choose to briefly block Microsoft Corp (MSFT.O) from engaged on a $10 billion cloud contract from the Pentagon, a courtroom submitting confirmed on Monday.

Amazon, which was seen as a favourite for the contract, plans to file a movement for a brief restraining order on Jan. 24 and a federal courtroom will difficulty its resolution on Feb. 11, based on the submitting.

The e-commerce large has blamed U.S. President Donald Trump of exerting “improper pressure” and bias that led the U.S. Department of Defense (DoD) to award the Joint Enterprise Defense Infrastructure Cloud (JEDI) contract to Microsoft.

The Department of Defense has stood by its resolution, with its Secretary Mark Esper rejecting any suggestion of bias and saying the choice was performed freely and pretty, with none exterior affect.

The JEDI contract is a part of a broader digital modernization of the Pentagon meant to make it extra technologically agile. Specifically, a purpose of JEDI is to provide the navy higher entry to knowledge and the cloud from battlefields and different distant places.

Microsoft didn’t have a touch upon Amazon’s intent to file the movement. Amazon didn’t reply to a request for remark and the DoD couldn’t be instantly reached.
